History

The Bedale and Villages Community Plan Forum published their Community Plan in 2002. The Action Plan came out of 2 Parish Questionnaires and 2 consultation days. Many people in the area commented on issues that were and still are important to them and these were prioritised and included in the Bedale Community Plan.

In 2003 the Forum were awarded Renaissance Market Town status which is a Yorkshire Forward scheme to assist in the regeneration of market towns. The town has benefited from 'experts' funded by Yorkshire Forward to undertake detailed research, further consultations and planning to develop a 25 year vision and masterplan for Bedale. Spawforth Associates were the lead consultants on this project - their work covered transport, tourism, community and economic issues.
The Forum has established 5 Focus Groups to help deliver the Community Plan and RMT Masterplan.
These are:
Business and Tourism
Environment
Community Issues
Transport
Safety

We dropped "Plan' from the title at the AGM in 2009.
